Storytellers

  • Alex Draper is a New York theatre, television, and film actor. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and daughter.
  • Beverly Donofrio’s memoir Riding in Cars with Boys was made into a movie directed by Penny Marshall and starring Drew Barrymore. Her second memoir, Looking for Mary (or The Blessed Mother and Me), met critical acclaim, and her work for NPR is in the Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
  • Rudy Rush is the host of the musical/variety series It’s Showtime at the Apollo. As a stand-up comic, he has had record-breaking runs at the New York Comedy Club, and has appeared on BET’s Comic View and HBO’s Def Comedy Jam.
  • Tim Golden is an investigative reporter for The New York Times and a writer for The New York Times Magazine.
  • Tom Weiser (curator) is a bird watcher, swing dancer, sailor, t’ai chi practitioner, improvisational singer, and drummer. His chief sources of unemployment are writing and storytelling.
  • Edgar Oliver is a writer and performer. His first novel, The Man Who Loved Plants, is available from Panther Books.
  • Katy Cox has performed at venues all over the U.S., from CBGB’s to Carnegie Hall. She is presently the fiddler for the traditional bluegrass band The Nieces and Nephews, and the hard-core bluegrass punk band Uncle F**cker.
