This compilation represents some of the best stories from our Mainstage series, Stories at The Moth, which is held monthly in New York City and occasionally beyond. Every Moth event is unique, each with a different theme and different storytellers. The shows feature 5-6 storytellers who develop and shape their stories in collaboration with The Moth. All stories are told live, no reading allowed, and the storytellers have approximately 12 minutes to tell their stories.

Introduction by Jonathan Ames

Ted Conover is the author of the Pulitzer Prize-nominated book Newjack: Guarding Sing Sing as well as Rolling Nowhere, Coyotes: A Journey Through the Secret World of America’s Illegal Aliens and Whiteout: Lost in Aspen.

Jack Hitt is a contributing writer to The New York Times Magazine, Harper’s Magazine, and the public radio program, This American Life. He is the author of Off the Road: A Modern-Day Walk Down the Pilgrim’s Route into Spain.

Nancy Finton works as an editor and admits that it’s rare that she tells stories for groups larger than two.

Walter “Walt” Pavlo was a senior manager at MCI when $7 billion in accounting irregularities were discovered. He founded Etika, LLC (www.etikallc.com) to share his tale and promote ethical behavior in business.

Sandi Carroll is an actor, writer, and director. She can be seen on screen in One Soldier, The Darien Gap and Next Stop Wonderland.

CD 2

Steve Osborne spent 20 years in the NYPD. He retired a lieutenant in the detective bureau, where he was the commanding officer of the Manhattan Gang Squad.

Sherman “O.T.” Powell was raised in St. Louis, Missouri but has traveled from coast to coast. He is a graduate of The Moth Outreach Program and is currently writing his autobiography.

Eric Konigsberg is the author of Blood Relation, a book about his great–uncle Harold (Kayo) Konigsberg. He has written for The New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine and lives in Manhattan with his wife and son.

Bernie Somers is a writer who lives in New York. He is 5’10”, 172 lbs. He also likes ice cream and daisies.

Richie De Salvo is the inventor of the Baby Calzone and the cheese-filled pizza crust. He is a graduate of The Moth Outreach Program.

James Frey is the author of the best selling novels A Million Little Pieces and My Friend Leonard. He and his wife Maya live in New York City with their baby and two dogs.
