The Best Mothers and Fathers Stories (Double CD)

Every Moth event is unique, each with a different theme and different storytellers. The shows feature 5-6 storytellers who develop and shape their stories in collaboration with The Moth. All stories are told live, no reading allowed, and the storytellers have approximately 12 minutes to tell their stories. Stories from his show, I Should Be Committed: Life in a Marital Institution, have been featured on NPR, at the Whitney Museum, and at the Long Wharf Theatre. <a href="http://www.jamesbraly.com">www.jamesbraly.com</a></li> <li>Bokara Legendre is a writer, performer and painter. She is working on a memoir that describes her journey from debutante to shamanette.</li> <li>Wanda Bullard is a veteran teacher who works with emotionally disordered students in Georgia. Most Sunday afternoons she hosts a cookout for all comers. The stories shared on her porch inspired our founder, George Dawes Green, to start The Moth.</li> <li>Anthony Griffith is an actor and comic who received an Emmy for his performance in Our Father. He’s appeared on The Bernie Mac Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Spike Lee’s Tales From the Hood, The Tonight Show and all over HBO and Comedy Central.</li> </ul> <h4>CD 2</h4> <ul> <li>Tony Hendra is an actor (This is Spinal Tap), screenwriter (The Great White Hype), author (The Messiah of Morris Avenue, Father Joe), editor (The National Lampoon) and editor-in-chief (Spy).</li> <li>Edwin Lee Gibson is a writer and actor. In 2006, he received an Outstanding Performance Obie Award for his role in Will Power’s The Seven. He is also a lecturer and educator on acting and race.</li> <li>Bliss Broyard is the author of the collection of stories, My Father, Dancing, and the memoir, One Drop: My Father, His Family, and an Unusual Inheritance. Her fiction has also appeared in Best American Short Stories and The Pushcart Prize.</li> <li>Boris Timanovsky When not telling stories, Boris manages the development of financial software. He first told this story at a Moth StorySLAM.</li> <li>Romy Ashby is the editor of Panther Books and Goodie Magazine. She is the author of the cult novelette The Cutmouth Lady.</li> <li>Joyce Maynard is the author of the memoir At Home in the World, and the novels To Die For, The Usual Rules, Internal Combustion and others.
